Sometimes at step 3 and 4 I just get connection timed out and it fails. Teh thing is, its only been this dodge today.
From what my flatmate said, our router had dos attacks earlier which completely slowed our network, and the internet has crashed 3-4 times for us today, you think thats fucking things up?
What concerns me more tho is, I get this random lag all the time. One min I'm running np, next I can't move. Thats been the case since I got the net at uni
Sounds like dos attack today, but an isp that is generally shit. who are you with?

AOL....but I've been with them for as longs as I've played UO. and over the last 2 years they've been pretty good for gaming. Given that I'm as far away as Dutchies and Frenchies my conn is pretty good
Looks like my connection between 18.00 PDT and 00.30 PDT. I did some traceroutes the other night, and it was hop 5 that was going from 15ms ping on hop 4 up to 200ms on hop5. The subsequent hops went up to about 400ms each.
I called my ISP and they said that my connection looked good because the tech I was talking to could ping my cable modem and had 0% packet loss. When I told him that I can normally ping 15ms to one server, and 150ms to another, and suddenly I start pinging over 300 to both, that doesn't mean it's a good connection just because there is 0% packet loss. He didn't know what to say...
Oh well, I have the IP address of the node/hop that's fucking up my connection, and found out that it's owned by ATT/Comcast, so at least I can point the finger back at them and have them start working on it. Maybe I'll have to change ISPs again...
