I'm on holiday next week, and the girlfriend is off midweek so I was thinking of maybe going down to Dundee for a couple of days, what kind of thing's is there to do during the day, and how's the nightlife?

Never really been there, and fancy something different. Plus it's just a short drive away really which is a bit of a boost.

Truthfully, Dundee is a bit like Aberdeen, or at least how I view it, its fairly lovely in the summer months, but winter is a cunt.

Its fairly cold here atm, although I have a feeling Aberdeen is worse.

As for attractions, assuming your not into SERIOUS HARDCORE FUNZ there is a decent amount to do, or at least, enough stuff to keep you entertained between lunch/shopping etc.

The sceince museam, http://www.sensation.org.uk/, although aimed at the younger audience is definitly worth a look, we went the other week and it was decent, as i said its nothing AMAZING, but its fun fucking around with the different displays, the musical lights were awesome sox.

You've got the Dundee Ice Rink, http://www.dundeeicearena.com/, depending on what days you come down you could do one of the following.

1) Go ice skating
2) Watch a Game.

I know your into your footie, but unsure of other sports. I love watching Ice Hockey, great atmosphere in Dundee (i.e we actually have a good sports team).

You also got the Olympia, http://www.swimolympia.co.uk/, ive never been during the day so im unsure what its like, i.e if the flumes, diving boards etc are open. However I know its very quiet durin the day, so you'd basically have the place to yourself (assuming schools are off).

Shopping wise there is three areas. You have the old Wellgate, the Overgate, which are both at different ends of the town. The Wellgate is the original shopping centre, inside you wont find too much truthfully. There is a subway, McDs, Woolworths, BHS etc. But the main perks of the Wellgate side of town is that just outside it are...Zavvi/HMV/GAME/Gamestation/TopMan/Oci Ano/Currys Digital/Disney Store/Thorntons.

The overgate is the newest section in Dundee, well, its been up a few years now, but is gettin expanded to make it the largest undercover shopping venue in the UK. http://www.overgate.co.uk/

Overgate has your more "trendy" clothing stores. Bank, Next, and ALOT of female shops. Also has best subway, o briens, greggs, big star bucks, etc etc. It's also got a big Debenhams where ANGUS THE HERO works in GAME.

Unsure if you are staying, but as for accomadtion, dont take this the wrong way, but im assuming cheaper is better? Theres a travel lodge/inn or premium inn whatever its called basically right in the town centre, close to everything. Its right next to Real Time Worlds (made Crackdown for 360). There building a Casino next to it so there is building work but its not beside rooms etc.

Night Life im a bit out iof the loop on if im honest, ive totally given up on clubbing, eventually got bored of paying to go to places where i didnt even like 80% of the music. However..

For eating the following places are best.

Don Michele (15 Minutes walk from town) - Italian - Arguably my favourite place to eat in Dundee, its fucking sweet. Theres a hole in the wall and you get to watch the chef's make your food from scratch etc. Great service. Not the cheapest but its amaaazziingg http://www.donmichele.co.uk/

Rancho Pancho (In Town) - Mexican - There is two in Dundee, one in the centre, and one further out. The one in centre is ace, its smaller but again its really good food. Im unsure how authentic it is, ive never been to Mexico, but its a high quality, cant remember price EXACTLY, but I think me and g/f were £25 ish for 2 courses, bottle of wine, and some cokes. Dont quote me though.. http://www.ranchopancho.com/

Papa Joes (In Town) - Multi Foodz - Papa Joe's is maybe the best place to go. Its good pricing, and you really do get anything. Menu is big and if you want Mexican but the WIFEZ wants pizza or a steak, its all there. http://www.papa-joes.co.uk/

If your looking for all you can eats, Jimmy Chungs (In Town) is win. Im going there tonight actually, however, i would recomend going for Lunch. Its cheaper and you get the same options basically, it really is ALL YOU CAN EAT. The best thing i can say about it is that all the chinese etc go there. I take it as a good sign that they eat there, i dunno, it makes it feel like its better quality. http://www.jimmychungs.com/

As for pubs, again it all depends when you go...town will be quieter during the week which will probably suit you.

The Nether Inn (In Town) is really good, its just been done up and while Im not a big fan of the new decor, its a good place, love a good juke box.

You also have Bar Rio just across the road, its bar and a eatery (Italian), its also nice grub, so could kill two birds one stone.

Across from Bar Rio and next to The Nether Inn is the DCA. http://www.dca.org.uk/ Its a local cinema/art exibtion/pub/resturant all in one.

Now, if you go on a wednesday, head for the Underground, it's just off of town but very easy to find. Before 10 its £3 in, £5 after. But every drink is £1, the only drink they dont stock is red bull and guiness. obv doubles are £2. Music is decent, not always amazing, but as i said, its £1 a drink and its always quite busy.

The PlayWright is next to it, beside the Rep (local theatre), they serve amazing slush alcoholz, best.

The Social is also beside the aforementioned two. Same deal as the underground basially, but less drinks on the offer, but its free to get in.

Club wise im sure you've told me before you've been to Fat Sams? Well its gone under alot of work in the last few years. Is now 4 floors, has a live area for bands, check here to see if any bands you like are playin when your up http://www.fatsamslive.co.uk/.

There are other clubs, theres a new one just opened but ive totally forgotten its name, tbh ive also never been. Its meant to be ok though.

Liquid opens in Dundee on the 14th (same one as Aberdeen ayeee)

Also just thought, could be something good on at http://www.cairdhall.co.uk/ the Caird Hall when your up.

Unsure if any of this helps or if it makes sense, hope it does though!
