Home Cinema System

kk, got the tv and home cinema etc all setup.
However, got some issues with the sound.
Reading the AV forums website, they talk about optical cables and splitters/switches for connecting multiple devices to the 5.1 speaker/sound system.
I'm a bit confused so if someone can tell me the best way to setup the following, and what additional cables I need -
Samsung TV - hdmi, optical, component, scart etc all available
Samsung Home cinema
Virgin Media standard cable box (Not the V+ box) - only scart available I think
Wii - scart and component outputs available
Probably a PS3 in due course too.
The aim of this is to get everything to come out of the home cinema speakers, at the best quality or whatever.
I'm guessing I'll be needing 3 optical cables and a 3 way optical switch, but not sure what box needs to be plugged into where.
Thanks.

This is why I said seperates because those all in one systems have limited inputs.
Can't give you any advice until you take a picture of the back of the unit and post it here.

Doesn't look like you have any HDMI inputs yet so you won't be using those.Villa wrote: Samsung TV - hdmi, optical, component, scart etc all available

TV - Stereo phono leads or optical out maybe > home cinema system. This allows you to listen to terrestrial broadcast TV on the 5.1 speakers. This will probably be the only connection between the TV and the home cinema system.
Virgin Media box - Scart > TV. Unless there's a separate audio coaxial/optical output you won't be hearing that through the home cinema system. It should have at least a pair of stereo phono jacks that you can use to hook up to the home cinema system though.
Wii - No separate audio out on this iirc so unless you can split the Wii cable you'll only be hearing this through the TV too
PS3 - If it has HDMI out then that goes to the TV. The optical or coaxial sound output will go to the home cinema system and walla 5.1 gaming and blu-ray movies.

Awesome.
Got the home cinema going to tv via HDMI.
Gonna order 3 optical cables and a switch; will put tv into home cinema via a single optical cable at first.
Eventually when I get the PS3 and a Virgin V+ box, I'll have both of those plus the TV going via optical cable to the switch, which in turn will go into the home cinema.
I suspect the wii will be the loser here, going directly to TV via scart or maybe component.
Thanks.
