Yeah that's 100% truth. Especially the guildwars part. I played guildwars for like 10 hours total, there's just nothing in the game to make you want to play, despite the PvP being apparently really good.Superfast Oz wrote:I have tried to play EVE twice now after reading about it, but I couldn't get that interested in it. It came across to me as another MMO just full of faceless people (like guild wars kinda did) so I didn't stick with it long.

I've just recently activated my account for the third time. Every other time I've quit after not even a week of not understanding a thing and being bored with the empty (looking) space and the facelessness of other players, which have both been mentioned.
However, this time i've been playing again for about two weeks and I'm finally starting to get a hang on things and am actually quite enjoying myself. The reason why I stuck around long enough to get stuck this time is that I had people to play with who were at the same level of incompetence as myself. And while doing missions (which honestly are really boring) you really need someone to chat with.
Otherwise its a rather slow moving game most of the time where you can be semi AFK nrowsing the web or whatever.
Anyways, its always worth giving a go. Theres a 14 day trial out there as I'm sure you know.
Also, I've been meaning to thank you for a while Benn. Cheers for the help, haven't really been able to appreciate it for real untill now but you've most certainly done a brilliant job getting me all the skills I didnt even know I need.

just play it!Villa wrote:I desperately want to play this game.
I used to play Elite for what seems like years now, and this is the next evolution of that (Elite is in my top 3 games of all time ever).
However, the negativity I keep hearing puts me right off.

Paddy man! My char name is Renard Lodder. Just joined sniggwaffe to see if I can pick up a thing or two about eve piracy.. we'll see about that. Also trying to make some money from trading but not doing too well atm (not losing, but rather low and slow return of investments). That trammie alt is called Roy Walker.
Anyways, I'll probably end up losing several bunches of rifters, so if you could share a few tips on how to aquire those cheaply, I'd be more than greaful. At current rate of 500kish isk per ship and fit I recon i'll run out of cash about the same moment the guns start blazing.
And Villa, do give it a go (and dont give up immidiately as I have every other time I've tried it) it could very well be worth it. One piece of advice is to read the EVE History Wiki while waiting for auto pilot to make it's twenty jumps, always gets me motivated and intruiged.

BORING
If its PvP theyll have you in a ship on the front lines soon enough, its too easy to say BORING before giving it a real chance.
ive been playing for a long time and yeah it can be a bit boring but the pvp is awesome and having corpmates around makes it a lot more fun.
get out what you put in
i recomend listening to some of the EVE podcasts that are out there currently. thiers one specifically made with noobies in mind ill find a link if anyone is interested.
