Please reccommend a TV that costs around £1k max, has minimum 3 HDMI ports, HD 1080p and at least 40" - 42" size.
Preferably LG or Samsung.

40" Samsung M87 1080P LCD can be had for around £700-800 on the internet including Amazon. It's the best bang for buck LCD currently available and has 3 HDMI ports, and also accepts 1080P over component and VGA which not many other TVs do, handy if you're planning to buy an Xbox or use it as a giant monitor for viewing downloaded HD movies.

Villa 42" is enough surely. 32" seems pretty big to me:(
Samsung = perfect really. 3xhdmi with audio ports so one of them can be dvi>hdmi cable from pc. vga port as well. 2x scart, optical audio, etc etc etc.
Picture seems fucking great to me, doubt you're going to find one better than the one Zim is on about.

although i cant praise our philips ambilight enough

but that is only a year old and its lacking 1080p and only has 2x hdmi ports, which is annoying
