Paul Gascoigne has been sectioned under the Mental Health Act after being arrested in Newcastle on Wednesday.

The former England star has endured numerous emotional problems since his retirement from the game.

He has battled against alcohol-related problems for years as he struggled to come to terms with life without football.

The latest incident occurred at hotel in Gateshead on Wednesday evening when Northumbria police responded to a concerned call.

A statement released by the police said:

"Police attended the Hilton Hotel in Gateshead yesterday evening after we received a report of concern for a 40-year-old who was staying at the hotel.

"The man was detained under the Mental Health Act and no-one was injured during the incident."
Not sure how accurate all that is.

my favourite gazza moment, and one of the best rangers games i've ever been at. Gazza took some real abuse from aberdeen fans, they have some of the most retarded hate filled fans i've come across, so it was great to see him giving them a huge fuck you and score a hattrick. sheep shaggers

gazza legend

Hehe the Ireland video is great. In the second video I especially remember the scene with van Basten. He celebrates his insane goal to the 2:0 in the final of Euro88 versus Russia.

Sadly Germany lost in the semi final vs. Netherlands in Hamburg. Actually that was the first international match I ever have seen live in the stadium. The tickets I got as a christmas present from my father in 1987. :)
