Is it wrong that made me lol?

My experience is limited to legacy and about 5 mins (literally) on defiance t2a. Is it coz it's too easy to to get a maxed out char and so on, because they have too few players to have a real community?

Free shards have never appealed to me as even though they try to cater for a wide variety of players they only attract a magrin crowd of people and have small playerbases which don't make real communities.

Even though a pvp shard may have very good ruleset for crafting and pvm, it's not going to attract crafters and pvmers as theres a ton of shards out there that have no pvp and just crafting and pvm.

Nah, from what I've heard it's basically just like all the other random freeshards with no particular aim or goal, only 95% of the players are goons.

Freeshards don't appeal to me either, and I created one. While EA still maintain their servers freeshards will never be as populated as is neccasary. You will also never have the professionalism required to keep one going.
If I can't do it, what hope does anyone else have?
Or to look at it from another angle, one of the most popular sets of servers was setup and is run by THE LEGEND HIMSELF LORD X LORD X KING OF YEW under a profit driven management. If a series of servers like that can be one of the most popular what does it say about the current playerbase of such servers?
