It's your money and choice of course, and the Advent will still be a good system, but I don't think i would go for it personally.
You should really be aiming for a motherboard with PCI express expansion slots too for the graphics card.

Hmm... this Dell Dimension 9150 seems to be quite decent.
It's £1019 if you reduce the warranty down to 1 year Collect & Return.
Also includes a 19" flat panel monitor which I wish they could remove and reduce the price further.
What do you reckon ? It more or less meets my budget.

Yeah that's a much much better system. It's worth giving them a call or email and asking if you can have a double ram upgrade instead of the monitor, or even pay the £100 for a gig more RAM and then sell monitor on ebay or use it for a spare system.
Also not a bad idea to have the £30 second dvd drive option which makes it easy to copy discs direct without needing to cache on the hard drive first and swap discs, also nice to be able to keep two discs in the computer at once!

Yes I must agree with Zim on upgrading the RAM to 2GB, while theres not exactly a great requirement or need right now (for general purpose use at least), it future proof's your computer.
I think after consideration as well, I'm going to build my own PC, partly to save some money which I can hopefully re-invest in the new gen graphics card heading this way in summer. Plus it leaves a lot of room open for customisation, which is ideal for me really.

Thats what I've penciled in so far, I haven't decided on the case yet, thats a rough look at what I'll add, but I'll defiently have to check it through properly before I part with my cash
It gives me a pretty nice system below my budget for all the random stuff I'll need.
Case wise, I was thinking something window'ed with a blue glow from inside (hence the blue led). My current PC has a similar glow. but is not windowed.
Admitly I've overlooked some things, but I'll look more into it nearer the time. I think there will defiently be some changes to be made, as for a start I'd like to read about any potentional compatibility problems and the like, then shopping around to try and save money where I could maybe invest and upgrade another part

I use overclockers aswell, there forum is great and speed of service for delivery is good, but if anything goes wrong dont expect them to be so forth coming they are slow as feck and you can never contact them via phone.
If your wanting peace of mind you should use the links i gave tbh avoid crap like Advent. PC World is handy since you can walk in, but expect to pay alot more for junk and then pay £££ on top of it for a warrenty.
Check out PC Advisor mag, they have a Super Budget , Budget and Power PC top 10s, and reviews of all systems in there top 10. Nice to read and i bet Mesh and Evesham are in there

Im also im the market for a new desktop PC system, but my budget is only £1000 (HI VILLA). I could always as you stated get a student overdraft and just go for it, but no.
Ill also be purchasing in the summer, around the same time i get my new flat, so i have plenty of time to have a looksee around.
