Graphics Card

Post by Nixon »

Right, basically my computer needs a face lift. If I had the cash I'd build one from scratch, but being the student bum and alcoholic I am, I have fuck all money.

That said, I'm after a semi-decent graphics cards, one that will support most the decent games out atm.

Any tried and tested would be the rox!

Need to bump up me ram too I guess, but thats not too costly, and I've got something in mind.

tyvm.

Oh you don't like Overclockers? Have bought some things in the past from them and hadnt had any problems. Some pretty good forums on there as well.

I use Radeon X800 XT PE, it runs every game on full settings despite being around a year old now. Not sure on price, should have come down a bit.

Purely for compatibility reasons I would always choose an Nvidia over an ATI card. Geforce range is pretty good now, just slightly more pricey than an equivalent ATI.
Should be able to pick up a half decent 6200 or 6800 now. On Amazon they have them for as little as £30 with 256mb.

ATI is shit, their drivers are coded by drunk monkeys.

Geforce 6600GT is a good and decent card that can handly every game I've come across so far, and its Nvidia so WIN.

Unless anyone has another alternative?
