The major difference between warfare then and now is that these days one side usually suffers very light casualties due to having high-tech remote-controlled warfare. The other side generally tends to be nations where the ordinary citizens are forced into military service to defend their despotic leaders against their will.
The biggest tragedy being that those with the technology will still inflict catastrophic casualties on the other side, despite knowing that their opponents generally don't have the heart to fight and are often facing them against their wishes.
In situations like this, rather than focussing on the despotic leadership of the 'enemy' nation, those with the technology will still go ahead and slaughter thousands upon thousands of the ordinary press-ganged citizenry.
Recent examples -
Afghanistan; the Americans carpet bombed and used daisy cutter air-fuel bombs (The most powerful weapons short of nukes) on concentrations of alleged Taliban fighters. The collateral damage was insane, but those mother fuckers in Washington try to keep attention away from all this.
Iraq; similar situation. American bastards carpet bombed entire divisions of Iraqi regular troops into the rubble and flattened the ground, before sending in those terrifying 'spectre' gunships (Modified Hercules aircraft that completely tear up the ground leaving nothing larger than a square-inch intact in the target area). These weren't the fanatical Iraqi revolutionary Guards - but the regular low moralled Iraqi regular troops who joined up either because they had no other source of income (Face starvation or do national service) or forced into joining up against their will.
During the first Gulf war, some people may remember the scenes of destruction on the so called 'highway of death' - the road from Kuwait to Basra as retreatting Iraqi columns were shot up by American cunts - these were ordinary troops and citizenry fleeing away inside their own country now, being shot like some kind of arcade game by trigger happy bloodthirsty American Mother Fuckers - many of whom were caught on camera footage cheering and celebrating as they would chase individual terrified soldiers and spend several minutes trying to kill them in some kind of macabre game.
Over 100k Iraqi regulars were slaughtered in total in that campaign. Why ?

The times have changed, military technology has changed but the huge losses in life continue - but only for the opponent - which is normally fine if the sides are balanced or if it was a fair war, but circumstances have dictated that the most recent military campaigns have been flawed and skewed to the extreme.
The American military commanders at the highest level are mother fuckers basically, and need to die from long painful tortuous deaths along with their entire families.
They had the means to ensure swift conclusions to whatever illegitimate military campaigns they wanted to wage on whoever was their latest enemy, but they chose to go for maximum collateral damage in every case in some kind of gesture to the rest of the world that "Yes we are bad mother fuckers and we don't give a damn".

I am sorely dissapointed that our governments over the past couple of decades have been lodged firmly up the Americans backsides, licking their arses and playing lapdog agreeing to whatever illegal bullshit the Americans want to orchestrate.
Our Government (Past and present) has a lot to answer for.

I'm still firecely patriotic under most circumstances; I just disapprove what our American colleagues get up to with their dodgy foreign policies, and I hate what our Government does by assuming that the nation is in favour of following the Americans into whatever hell hole they create for themselves.
