UFO aftershock will be a horrible travesty of a game, it's based on UFO:Aftermath, not UFO:Enemy Unknown. I truely hope beyond hope they learnt from their mistakes but from what I hear they haven't, non destructable terrain, real time combat, lolfest.
The one to watch out for for UFO fans is Hammer and Sickle, a Russian game based on the Silent Storm engine, which is the world's premiere turn based squad level tactical enging. I can't praise it enough, I actually think Silent storm sentinels if the resource and world managment had been worked on just a bit longer could have been better than UFO.
On the plus side though Civ4 today and X3 tomorrow.

Aftermath made me feel both terribly nostalgic and also so mind numbingly bored that jumping out the nearest window seemed preferable to playing.
I remember buying the original UFO for my Amiga 500 (rox) and despite the disk swapping tedium, it was an incredible game. I dont know how this eastern european development house managed to get a blatant attempted copy so wrong. Aftermath was devoid of atmosphere and fun, the original UFO was actually scary, I used to brick myself when opening doors or stepping into barns because you never knew if an alien was going to kill your best soldier with an opportunity shot.
They also robbed the game of base management which was anither big thing.
On the plus side they kept the original system where you view the globe, and this time it was very veyr pretty. Ill probably end up buying Aftermath because they claim to have listened to diehard UFO fans and reintroduced base management for this second game. The story line is pants though.
Oh and Ive got AOE3 on order, cant wait til that arrives. Last PC game I bought was Rome Total War which was great but runs fucking slow on my ageing computer, even with all the options turned down. Not to mention I snapped a CD trying to take it out the stupid fucking case so I wont ever be playing that again.

But yes, it reminds me of the time I bought all 9 seasons boxsets of X Files from eBay. The seller stated they were all originals, but would be sent from Hong Kong.
When they turned up eventually, they were blatantly forged.
The writing on the poor quality photocopied covers were in chinese.
The voices were in Chinese too, which was fairly amusing.
Listening to Mulder talking to Scully like he was ordering a takeaway provided a few laughs.
Mind you, I'd ask Scully for a number 69 anytime.
Nah Tokimonster, X3 is a purely single player experience, and designed to be so, though from rumouirs they are working on an X-online, but not hardcore.
X3 will use starforce. So a cracked copy won't be released, best you can hope for in the way of an ILLEGALOL version will be SFCure, SFN and clonedvd, which requires tons of fannying around with IDE controllers and stuff
