Isn't that implied by the "no gay AOS items save 2/4 jewelry?" Spell channeling weapons were part of AOS, weren't they? The only spell channeling items I remember before AOS were chaos/order shields.

Maybe I'm forgetting something though...

Indeed, I remember doing this in epa quite effectively, precast explosion, bleed nox etc

Rendered completely useless in 1v1 when I poison harm spam when you have wep equipped. :P

Still decent in team fights though :)

yeah nothing to stop you equiping a old gm wep and doing it

mortal ruin(d) good fights last time though, bleed and stuff aint to bad in group fights

Sorry this has taken a while to come, I‘ve barely had a spare moment for the past week. Here’s how this is going to work, and a full list of rules.

Basically it’s going to involve making some new guilds and then all declaring war on each other. So if you want to play then you should be looking to team up with some other people and create a guild. I’m sure you all know some other people who are interested so it shouldn’t be too difficult. I recommend limiting your guild size to a maximum of 5-6 people, this won’t be enforced but obviously some of the mass free for all team battles won’t be as much fun if one team has a massive numbers advantage.

The character you use doesn’t matter, it can be red or blue as all of the fights will take place at classic locations, outside of guardzones, so you don’t have to worry about xhealing a red team mate in a gz etcetera.

Here’s the list of character requirements:

NO Age of Shadows onwards skills permitted:

This includes necromancy, chivalry, bushido, ninjutsu and spirit speak (although this was a pre-aos skill, it was only after aos that it could be used for healing). The only exception to this rule is focus, which is perfectly permitted.

Other template restrictions:

After much thought it’s been decided to not allow dexers to take part in this. They changed significantly in aos and also don’t contribute much in this type of fighting. If enough people complaint hen we’ll consider changing it, but for now this is the rule. However I will say that this is the perfect opportunity to become better on a mage, even if you never play them. People are in for a big surprise when they realise they can’t prep every spell when wearing gm armour.

We would have liked for everyone to have gm skills at most, but naturally not everyone has a spare character slot or the inclination to train a character just for this. So scrolled characters are permitted.

As far as the poisoning skill goes, unfortunately this will have to be disallowed as it’s no longer a fair skill for duelling.

Jewelry:

Ok the main limitation here is that you MUST NOT have more than 2/4 casting, this is absolutely critical. This is impossible for us to enforce so it’s a matter of trust. If you are taking part in this it’s to have fun, not to win all the time, so cheating is completely unnecessary and I will trust no one to do it. 2/4 casting can be tricky to step back down to, but it can still be very fast. As for other mods on jewellery, blank jewels are preferred but again it’s impossible to enforce so there will be no other restrictions. In the spirit of fair competition try to keep other mods at a minimum.

Equipment:

Armour must be made from gm leather only, so you can use horned or barbed. It’s fairly easy to make a set that will give you 60 in all elemental resists.

Mages with weapon skills may use gm weapons only, that means no spell channelling! Blank spell channel shields with no other mods ARE permitted for parry mages.

Most ancillary equipment such as pots and orange petals is permitted in group fights with no restrictions. The new potions are not permitted, neither are wands. If you have any questions about whether anything else is permitted just ask me.

Special Moves:

This has been the hardest part to deliberate over. In essence special moves shouldn’t be allowed, but in fact I do feel they can add to the experience. So in group fights special moves WILL be permitted with the exception of dismount and mortal wound. Because of the massively limited mana allowance compared to using lmc armour, using special moves will become very much a case of choosing the right moment as opposed to the “I can bleed alldays” method which seems quite popular on most shards.

Dismount and Mortal wound have absolutely no place in the fighting, so these wil not be allowed.

In duels players can agree before hand if they want to allow specials or not.

Spells:

In group field fights there are no restrictions on spell use, cast whatever you like.

In duels and team duels field spells, summon spells and invisibility are not permitted. Area effect spells such as chain lightning and meteor swarm are also not permitted.

Other Rules:

If you die in a fight you may or may not be permitted to re-enter the fighting, this will depend on the scenario. If you are not permitted then you should remain in your deathrobe til the end of the fight. Characters in deathrobes may not play any part in combat and may not be targeted by other players.

Looting: In field fights the looting of reagents is allowed as it is an effective way to bring an end to the fighting. Looting of armour and non pvp items is not encouraged as it might be difficult and inconvenient for some people to replace their gm armour. This will not be enforced however.

Shit talking: Not encouraged but will not lead to any action except in extreme cases. This is an event for fun and mutual respect, so there shouldn’t really be any need for it. Don’t take things too seriously.


When will it take place?

Unfortunately I have to return to France in two weeks to start emptying my apartment there and cancelling my various contracts, I won’t be back until the 10th July. So we will schedule this to start on Sunday 17th July. This gives you time to get some friends together, get characters ready and start training! In the week I’m back we’ll start sending the war invites so you’ll need to post the name of your guild.

Locations and event types will be disclosed at a later date.

That’s about it for now, if I remember something I’ll add it in.
