First Person SHOOT EM UP.

I'm looking into getting into some FPS action (Not going back to Planetside, numbers are low).

But anyways, ive played "Rogue Spear" on and off, and have always been a fan of this type of game.
But ofc, being an gaming "geek" ive always heard "PLAY COUNTERSTRIKE ITS TEH WIN" - But ive also heard "CS IS FULL OF BUG ABUSER BLAH BLAH"

Basically, im looking into a fairly decent, tactical FPS game, ive heard alot of t hese new "War FPS" are rarther good, and worth a look.

Any recomendations for me?

I play CS:S, a lot of people hate source and prefer 1.6 but I dont really care, im playing for fun only, its ok when your playing with friends and such, or cool clans that dont tolerate cheats, some servers have cheats but most are usually np

I assume "CS:S" is CS:S Source.

I might look into it, this chap my mother works with (She logged onto my PC, got MY ICQ number, and gave it to him ffs) plays FPS alot, and has been harrasing me to get into them.

So ill wait till he's on later and see what he plays (totally forgotten).
As you said Nix, its just something for fun and such.

ill look into CS:S after my bath, which shall be ready in like 5mins, w00t.

i got played to play CS, I am the zole of the CS world

that is the best game for me

BF:vietnam is cool, far cry was too, UT2004 etc..

all depends on what you fancy doing and the speed of pace etc..

I heard BF:Vietnam was excellent.

I remember a while back there was a "Command and Conquer" type FPS. I may look that up also.

I'm unsure of the different "styles" in each game.
Ive always liked the idea of "Tactics", but I guess that goes out the window alot heh.

Still, thanks for the ideas, ill go read up on them before I make a formal purchase.

BF:V and CS is kind of tactics based i would think.. dunno havent played FPS actively since Q2:CTF and Aq2

cs is the only fps i have ever really liked online

oh and OFC ut2k4 BOMBING RUN, this is by far the best ever online mode ever. and doesant get enough love, you get 10 decent people on each team and on comms with some of them and someone shouting GO LONG owns so hard as you leg it for the ball they just shot over your head, drop the enemy who grabed it, get the ball. have your teammate save your ass then score a goal

CS isnt fast enough in my opinion, and far too few rockets flying in every direction

(Although im being told to look out for BF2 soon)

In rouighlt 4-5 months Stargate- Alliance will be coming out, I'm a MASSIVE SG1/SGA fan, so this game looks ace to me.

the guys behind that game suck, they are forcing anyone making stargate mods (there was a uber one for hl2) as well as about 5 others with high potential to shut down or they would sue them just to stop it being better then there game

Cs is ok if your into that kind of realism and teamplay thing, if you play it at a high level i respect that, but playing on publics and getting pissed off at campers is not fun for me.

Ut2k4 is good for the solo player and the team player and generally has a more mature and fun playerbase i think, this game does not involve camping or shooting through walls.

Check the beggining of my ut video, made in 10 mins, i will make a real one someday.

Play ut.

If you have really slow reactions like an old man, are an army fan boy, or like gay games, battle field is for you, or maybe CoD

Quake 4 is not that far off , you could wait for that.

Dont play battlefield.

I tried all cos i like fps when uo sucks (eprma_) so imo after em all I think Soldier of Fortune 2 > All but it takes a bit of setting up now with player made maps.

I still lub CS, although I'd play most online games if I could be arsed buying them.
