Internet Cafe's

Post by Nixon »

I don't know how big a thing they are down in England, but certainly up hear in Scotland there is a distinct lack of them. Those that do exist, are poor and vastly over-priced.

There is however a lot of Wi-Fi access points - which are still extremely vunrable, and not really recomendable to anyone that doesn't have a clue

So, my question is, *if* there was an internet cafe in your area that was cheap, offered all the usual comodities, LAN Gaming, hiring out (specifically for LAN parties and such - I-C rl meet would be a good example)

Would you be interested in the service?

Also, what would you like to see offered by the cafes that are perhaps original and viable (in other words, stuff that would not bankrupt the cafe ;) )

Loads of them down here in Brighton, Big towns in France seem to have quite a few, as do a lot of European states. Scotland = 15th Century

deffo would.
not many places in london which do that. used to be gaming specific cafes, but not so much these days.

was one which me and my mates would go to, we knew the guy who ran it, and would have late night cs sessions there.

But yeah, a cafe which has headset already, sells food (dont have to be anythign special, crisps choclate drink sandwhichs, toilet facilities. common games installed already ie. CS, Q3, AOE

There's shitloads of them here, I think their uses for gaming mainly passed when broadband became the norm in households though.

Id go for a place which also attracts people who would only wanna check there mail etc. maybe in the front close to the window an area for those people, sell coffee etc, maybe few laundries, small snacks, nicely decorated and than have a more private area for gaming and nerds with headsets ^^^, so you counter 2 groups of people ....
Generally no big COUNTERSTRIKE OWNAGE Posters or badly drawn graffities, maybe more like a loungy place which fits all needs

Theres a few here which host some of the biggest "local" CS tourneys etc.. i dont have the need for one tho. A mate used to work @ a InetCafe in my hometown, but it got shut down due to very few customers.. I think this only work in cities with a fair number of inhabitants. Not that many of them up here ^^

All the Danish fags on Pacific back in the day played from Cafe's, so they still had half decent pings on a shard so far away.

I wish they were more popular here in the states, but everyone here seems to have their own computer and high-speed connection. There are a few game halls set up that have a few rows of computers to use for lan gaming, or internet gaming, but they're over priced.

The only good cyber/internet cafe i've ever been to was in Romania. It was nice because they had damn good coffee and cheap hourly rates to use the internet. I didn't have a chance to check out the gaming there, but I do remember seeing some people playing some first-person shooters. It was still a nice place to hang out for an hour or so.

I'd consider playing at an internet cafe if I could bring my own computer or a laptop. Only reason I would do it tho would be to hang out w/ friends who are playing at the sametime/same area so we could yell at each other. Then again, that's what team speak and ventrilo are for, I guess. But hanging out w/ people is fun too. Sometimes computers are just so impersonal.
