Time for a Jump to WoW, UO is going Dead 100%
Ive been playing this game 7 years... and i didn't even though once in quiting.....
Those days i was playing WoW and i won't lie, I was amazed...
But still i thought pvp in uo is something different... (Tho i didn't tried to pvp in WoW cuz i am still low level )
Today i got some ICQ msg from a friend giving me some infos of what artis are coming with pub 31....
When i saw them i was really dissapointed... was the proof that DEV team, has as primary target to trammelizing felluca...
Ill give u a short info of what i mean :
New Arti book : 15% SDI, 15 Magery, 15% LMC, 8 int Bonus
No-Dachi sword : 100% Hit Harm, 10% HCI, 60% DI
They might introduce piece with 80-100 LRC. Who knows. Dev Team went Crazy...
After that....i will start the process of selling all my stuff, the game will be TRAMMELIZED 100% and will be made just for Americans, meaning no skill just items (Not all Ofcourse)
WoW is a pretty nice game... and very promissing... UO was one of the best games i played but not anymore...
Prolly nobody will be left in felucca plus nobody will be a Skillful PvPer anymore....
I really Urge u to quit cuz after AoS , EA and DEV team made the best mistake in that game... At for start taking out the Uniqueness of UO, the no based item pvp/pvm and generally able to play
That's all i hade to say... I am really gone from this soon

have we not all been here before.
sure wow looks amazing. but hey. so did star wars galaxies.
everquest, dark age of camelot. should i go on?
everyone is trying wow right now. thats why uo is dead. its not just fel.
will it last and be the death of uo. maybe. but we have said this before.
id not sell your accounts just yet.
bank your stuff and let the houses fall is my advice. and cya in three months time.

Ther its strange to suggest these items are trammelising felucca anymore than it is. There are caps on all the properties on that spell book, if anything this book will balance pvp more. Letting all players easily get max sdi & lmc.
I think its psychosomatic the worry about items. The more of items that come in the less item based it will become because more ppl will be at the caps. Suggesting that it will make the game less about skill seems ludicrous, considering it couldnt be less skillful when someone is at caps and someone else has nothing.
As for wow im sure its great, but for me UO has been an amazing adventure. I am always doing something in UO with other players, guild wars, champs, dueling, guild briefings. WoW is not gonna be anything like UO is for me, from what I have seen its just bashing monsters and killing some ppl if they want to be killed. Then there is all this fuss about quests, quest, its bad enough you have to level up to your 'template' but you have to run around reading what NPC's have said to 500 other ppl.

UO won't die, it will still limp along.
As I said on SEK forum, there is no real alternative to UO's non-consensual PvP in any other major game out there right now, so it still holds a niche.
I had vowed not to touch WoW until my guild mates had given the thumbs up 2 months down the line - however, the current dire state of UO has forced me to cancel my accounts early, and look into alternative online ventures.
I doubt I will enjoy WoW with it's trammelised rules, but at least it will provide me with something to do while playing with my guild mates.
I suspect UO will be quiet for a little while - particularly the Felucca facet, until such a time as some people get bored of WoW, or if they manage to bring something interesting into UO again.

Try wandering around in Ilshenar and even Trammel, everyone is in Tokuno. I went to ilsh today with a friend, gaining some honor on demons since there's no bushido nerf coming(i am adapting : got bushido and follower of honor, trying to get knight of honor).
I saw 3 people on ilshenar, while just 1 month ago i couldn't kill demons cause they were camped 24/7 by 10 people. There was one in blood dungeon, 1 brief appeaarance of a tamer at the demon spawn near compassion, and a guy running around reapers trying to get people banned(it's a good thing i never do anything afk).
When i go to the fan dancer dojo, there's 2-3 characters on any spot(even the headless only spot), Der Rock camping the best spot with 3 clients, corpses everywhere. And df isn't a highly populated shard, so no uo isn't going dead, just everyone who still needs to finish his characters is camping some tokuno spawn, and who is done is trying wow cause felucca is getting empty, but it will fill up again after pub31.
I like pvp over pvm but i'm working on a suit for my characters, i know for some of you who spent hundreds of milions to get your suit done it doesn't sound fair, but i like the fact that it's getting easier now.

Sure UO was predicted to be dead several times before. As I have returned from a break twice myself I know what I´m talking about. But there is one difference between the other games that have been there. Never UO had that strong competitors. With WoW and EQ 2 they reach a new dimension. Not only in gameplay and graphics, also in advertising. WoW is distributed very wisely with TV commercials, advertising in magazines, in shows on TV. Probably WoW will attract even Pro Clans what makes WoW more attractive for TV formats like any other game. Maybe not for you but for the kids. The point is - even if UO can hold its old customers (what it certainly can´t) UO will loose ground every month. New players will not come to UO anymore. Younger players won´t come to UO anymore. Ok, maybe that´s not really bad cause they use to play Trammel anyways. But the trammies keep the server´s up cause they pay the bills. That´s a fact. When 95% of the players play on Trammel ok. 95% of the money EA gets comes from Trammies. Less players there will result in losses for EA sooner or later.
I could live with that shit if the ruleset on Fel was ok or if at least one Dev would care a bit about Felucca. But they don´t. The new items were presented in an interview or a chat on stratics, Calix mentioned it. I mean - read this interview and read the answers about bugfixes. Not within the next two or three publishes. That´s really annoying cause nothing will happen within the next three to five month. Yesterday I was attacked by a stupid guy at Brit Gate with his funny Hiryu. It deals lovely 35-45 damage a hit and as a bonus it dismounts you too.. ^^ I really look forward to see the next five idiots trying the same shit.
Same with 100+ damage hits from bushido dexxers. Or stealth/dexxers. Sorry, but the Devs don´t take this as a problem. They actually seem to like it. Me dislikes it. And that´s why I will probably will close my account too and join Theri and some other m8s in WoW.
My first account is from January 98. UO has been a great time. But I don´t see any perspective longer than 6-12 month if EA won´t change a shit. And they won´t. At least they have no interest to improve anything for the Fel scene. Maybe they present their "secret" project soon and bring a new client with new graphics. I think that´s their only chance anyway. Although I loved the 2d Client and really like the graphics in UO.. this shit has no future I fear..

You mentioned one important area in your post that most people often overlook - not so much the player base dwindling daily, but that of NO NEW PLAYERS.
That's the main reason why UO will eventually become unviable to maintain. It won't happen for a LONG time, but when it does die, it will be because of no new players.
I heard someone say that at start of AOS, there were over 250k active accounts. That means a nice income for OSI.
I can only assume many of those were multiple accounts for people wishing to hold house sor whatever, and that the real number of people playing the game now a days is probably well under 100k (But with many owning multiple accounts, the number of active accounts is still likely to be over 200k in total).
This number will slowly decrease.
No random person is going to walk into a shop and buy UO.
They will look at the box, and then look at the rival products and will buy one of them instead.
Only friends/family of existing players will buy UO.
So that, IMO, is the reason why UO will die when it does in a LONG time from now. No new customers/players.
EDIT: I read on Blizzard's site, that they sold 380k copies of WoW in the opening weekend alone - IN EUROPE.
