OSI SEKRET PROJEKT, DETAILS REVEALED. urh I think!?

Post by Nixon »

the secret project is a revamp of the client while retaining user items housing spots etc.
it will include a new 3d rendered isometric viewpoint *ie uo3d done right* with full control over arial perspective, housing will be estate based ie spaces for gardens etc.
crafting will have been completely revamped as is hinted by fertbert.
there are going to be mountable flying dragons, not hyrus but actual dragons.
graphics will be similiar to NWN but softer and rounder

you can move/ adjust the camera but in a rotating type of way. you can scroll in but not to the first person view, similiar to NWN you can rotate the whole screen around to view each angle/aspect.

in your new Estate(player house) you can buy NPC buildings a blacksmith shop, and a advanced wizard tower, both of these are used to increase your skill in said area, and you will have NPCs under your control in your said estate, also farming grounds in your estate to grow regeants.
Okay, now you've read that, it's not from a Dev, but how exactly would the guy know that? I know certain details were mentioned at the RL meets OSI dev team had. We all know there is a SEKRET PROJEKT OSI have been working on

Check out the original thread and make your mind up yourselves.

Personally I couldn't give a shit about 3D Client, fix the current one so its not lagged etc, but no, lets work on eye candy, bah fu osi.

never played nwn, or any 3d mmorpgs for that matter (except final fantasy, lub)
but i sure hope its not just a new client (not to mention upgradable houses? advanced shops? wtf)

they have also stated numerous times there not doing this despite there having been rumours for a good few years now (the unreal engine ones)

i dont care for new graphics myself
wheres the 'unified pvp' gone?

infact i dont want to know.

They;ve been hiring 3D modelers etc, and according to others theres been posts of similar nature just 'disappearing' on UO Hall. Of course some people will have access to where these threads go, but can't say publically ;)

Personally I wouldn't switch to 3D regardless for UO. I expect this to be another half ass attempt to lure customers anyway, I wont be fooled into buying it

Its crazy to prejudge this before its out, I would love a game that looked like WoW, but played like UO. UO just is not going to get more customers without this sort of engine. One thing you can be sure of though EA wants to make money, so if it sees the light of day, you would think it will get a nice marketing campaign.

Yeah but UO:3D originally got a lot of hype, then two projects that got the plug pulled recieved the same.... I don't have high hopes for this project either. Any of OSI's ideas in the last 5 years for an 'improvement' to UO has been quite the opposite.

For all those saying they will stick with 2D:

I doubt you will get a chance, EA have stated numerous times that they want one client as supporting many it too much of an issue.

I play UO3D and dont really find it that bad.
Peopel seem to bitch about the paperdoll, which does look gay, but at the end of the day - who gives a fuck about a paperdoll?

You havent had a fight until youve had one in 3D, regardless of the agressive defence peopel have of 2D. The spell efects in 3D look like they hurt, it adds a lot to the whole situation IMO.

I try 2D occasionally (i did play UO2D for several years) and although the hraphics are very stylish its hard to imagine your even being hurt with the pityfull graphics for spells.

One day when your bored, log into 3D during a dueling session or whatever and just sit back and watch peopel fight (so that the critisisms about playability dont pose a problem). you might be suprised at how good it looks. (or rather that it doesnt look as bad as your thaught)

Peopel tend to log in 3D, look at their chars and say "thats fucking awful". truth is that if you play 3D, you will want to redress so that you look good in 3D (and there are some clothes that look pretty good in 3D.

its all a matter of taste though, but i do think that people are almost brainwashed by UO2D after using it for so long, and they act rather aggressively towards 3D like its the bastard traitor of UO.

Pictures taken from the EK forums.

It's not only the paperdolls, it looks incredibly lame. I struggle to see one single good point the 3D graphics have over the 2D Graphics.

Everything is out of proportion, theres nothing good graphically with that client. It looks almost the same as it did when I played Beta, absolutely awful.
