Isnt this type of game which "we" ,
as in ex Ultima players
are looking for ?
This is what i read about it :
"
Player-controlled economy.
Politics
Theft
A meaningful penalty for fucking up
Full PvP, with no checks and balances to ensure "fairness" or even "a fighting chance" if someone bigger and meaner than you shows up.
"
Sounds like everything i want in an online game at the moment,
ok maybe not the being easily destroyed by bigger people bit, but still ticks most the boxes .
So anyone tried this ?

Also, alot of progress can be done when your away from the game, kind of like legal unattended macroing, which suits us old fags who work etc

Some of us have played it lots
And got bored eventually.
It's really good though.
Worst part is that it can sometimes be hard to find fights.
I reactivated the last month but didn't reall get back into it.
Pad still plays, and I think Kash does too?
Also I also enjoy typing on multiple lines.

lol Benn.
Yeah I heard alot of good things, but like current UO, finding a fight can be somewhat impossible at times.

To be fair some of the pvp is excellent, and the player-controlled universe thing is extremely good, the major war that's going on right now (with several thousand people on each side) is pretty amazing.

Also it has the most vertical leraning curve of any game that's actually in a language you can read.

EVE is one of the games ive always wanted to play, but I dunno, UO has ruined MMO's for me I think.
Maybe if I could stop trying to make comparisons i'd be ok..
However, until then...

Yeah I'm afraid it sounds more awesome than it is, though again echoing Benn, it is a good game.
Especially if you're into the whole massive universe galactic soap opera setting.

I gave this a go. Agreed the whole idea of the game and the way it works is the kind of thing UO Pvpers would love. I even started pking people a few hours into playing it (albeit with about two weeks afk skill gain).
Ultimately what put me off was the "loneliness of space" and more importantly the massive learning curve as Benn already mentioned. A dedicated player could overcome that problem but I just didn't have the time to invest to learn how it all works, so gave up.
I found it extremely difficult to find fights at times as well, the non consentual areas tend to be deserted for obvious reasons.

Admittedly I didn't give it a proper go, but learning curve + boring 'landscape' put me off really early.
On paper it sounds like easily the best game around though.

I have tried to play EVE twice now after reading about it, but I couldn't get that interested in it. It came across to me as another MMO just full of faceless people (like guild wars kinda did) so I didn't stick with it long.

I saw it at Benns, was kind of intereseted as to how it all worked, so I tried out the trial, but it didn't really hold my interest. Didn't know what I was doing, and never really grabbed me to make me want to learn.
And it's a space game. :[
