It's strange. The two people who are credited most with UO's success(Koster and Garriot) have both gone on to make absolute garbage follow up games.
Edit: When I say success I mean making it a good game, not how many people play it~

I get the impression that all the things that made UO good i.e player conflict in whatever form were all accidental.
