Scotland 6 - 0 Faroe Islands
Lithuania 1 - 2 Scotland
Scotland 1 - 0 France
One good result does not a good team make.
However england are just as shite right now, should have wooped macedonia, but oh well. I didn`t get to see it anyway as i was in the middle of a 14 hour shift in blazing desert sunshine!

It's far too early to tell really, we have got off to a great start, but there's still like 9 more games to play, all of teams are realistically capable of giving us a scalping if we aren't on our game, bar maybe Faroe's - despite the horror 2-2 a few years back.

Of course, I agree with you, we never exactly go into games thinking we are world beaters, we don't have any world class players, we only have a few exceptional players, the rest are just average but hardworking passionate mofos. There is lots of hype here, and it's great really, after being rather dismal since France 98' it makes a refreshing change.
England's result against Macedonia, doesn't come as a major surprise to me, England haven't been remotely near the form they should/capable of producing for years. Maybe down to managers? Or overhyped stars? Or star players simply not being able to play together? I don't know, its probably a mix of all.

No the simple fact is that England are totally over rated as individual players. I would only rate Steven Gerrard and Michael Owen as proper world class players. Owen because he just scores goals endlessly regardless of how he is playing and Steven Gerrard just because he is amazing. The rest are just too inconsistent and in some cases plain average.
This coupled with the celebrity factor (they care more about image and money than football) and a succession of shit managers (last good one was Glenn Hoddle imo) means we are doomed to failure.
I honestly don't rate us as better than any average team at the moment, and that includes Scotland.

England are fucking overrated, but funny how a scousepool fan picks out a couple of BEST SCOUSERS as England's only good players. Owen has always been stupidly overrated.

Peter Crouch is probably the greatest player of all time.

gary neville's miss was stupid and rooney was poor.
When did a man utd player last score for england? I reckon the last competitive goal was Rooney 2004 rofl! Bit embarassing for englands so called biggest club.
I'm happy for scotland for sure, I was more bothered about them holding on against france than england getting the winner. living a couple of doors from a former rangers season ticket holder so good for him too.

United players wouldn't play for England in an ideal world.
"so called" harhar. Pain are you @ uni in Liverpool now? I can't wait for your new hardcore scouser personality to emerge.

And i think thats the difference both for the fans and the players.
English fans will always think their team is the best regardless of actual skill, and the players are constantly bombarded with media hype that they believe they are unbeatable too. And thats the reason why when we have a good team we still play shite, the team just expects to win on thier reputations rather than thier undoubted skill.

I went to Liverpool Uni (you're at the real one, not John Moore's, right?), and it was fucking awesome. Liverpool is a great city. Although not as good as Newcastle obviously
