Would be nice.

Think if Roxin decides to go for it, would need a lot more people to stick it out..so many people started up and quit, was literally just a few I-C + ex elr people + a few freeshards nobs by the end.

Dunno how that would ever be done, no changes and just origional p25 ruleset? Still don't see it happening as it only attracts PvPers. Need the PvMers to come, and they all went to WoW.

i really enjoyed the gem thing he had going on, shame however i did not like (see drop rates).

drop rates were far to high (same with high end gems too) and it was far to easy to build uber uber suits. (except jewels unless u had orny/inq gloves)

longitivity keeps away the freeshard nobs and attracts the people who like to pvm etcetc

id lower drop rates on top quality loot, take away the lrc cap, increase the jewels rate drop, modify the loot system so it worked (the message u got was a great idea)

apart from that legacy was up there as funniest times i had in uo

Thing is though a lot of what made people quit was it being too hard for them to make a suit. You're like uo entrepeneur man, most people arent.

yeh admitly the fun i have in uo is buisness/pvp

but one of the main things about uo is you need goals and in AOS those goals are items and they were simply to easy to get or to hard (jewelry) it was close to being right, but longitivity comes with goals, (shard at start people were working furiously and hence shard was alot of fun) also think skill gain was too easy, yes 7xgming in 2 days is ok and fun, but after 2 weeks you have 4 7xgms and a gm crafter and 1 of those special "uo goals" has been eliminated...

if noxin could get those "goals" just a little more with longitivity in mind without throwing the casual uo pvper away from the shard, it would have been alot more healthy imo. instead barbed kits were worth 200k (see osi and 5 mill a kit)

I agree with a lot of what you're saying merc, but it's completely unreasonable to compare economies.

I would love to play legacy again but ill be fucked if im gonna spend another 2month sorting chars etc, i would prolly get too pissed off remembering how far into it i was already, even legendered my tailor ffs... if it was to reopen something would have to be done to the people who played before ..
All the hypes gone now anyway, people expected to much from it first time round and second time round well i doubt you see many people returning to play
I wonder how it would be going now tbh, we never got close to see the real potential of legacy first two months were about getting sorted etc though the pvp was great if it carried on now and factions sorted ))

couldn't you just revert the shard to last save? like now, thx

Agreed, but as Calix said, the reason I personally never played Legacy, was in part due to not having the time, but I just felt Noxin was unlucky with the player base he attracted (out with of those he advertised too), for example free shard fags who never played the real UO and dont understand alot of our passion for the game.

Thats in my opinion the thing that seperates us lot, from alot of the current UO player base, we didnt mind workig for what we needed, the current population wants items and skills now, and wont wait.

Its a shame, but our style of UO game play left with the masses.

I think Nox had the correct idea for his shard, i look at Angel Island and think that Adam Ant has done it right, he's attracted a group of RP pvpers, with a side dish of hardcore PvPers, but he hasnt got the population to sustain any real UO players ambitions.

Its a shame, i think the only joy out of UO any of us are likely to get in the future is through discusions and posts like the above.

Still, dreams can come true...maybe.

Fakt I think.

I'd be happy with an OSI run freeshard from most eras except the current or fc4, it's more about who you play with/against than any particular era.. although I think my favourite would be p25 with no trammel. I'm more likely to win the lottery than see that happen though, and I don't play the lottery:/

Imagine a shard on east coast US frozen in p25 ruleset. Would get all Europeans and Americans:/

Guess the only hope for the future is that one day EA will close UO, then some group of UO lovers might buy the rights to run the 'official' UO.

I wouldn't play, but thats not really to do with Noxin or legacy itself, just that I couldn't be bothered to start again. Too much effort, I'd only want to pvp.

Unfortunately there is no point to restarting legacy, if the right players weren't attracted first time round why would they be the second time? Even the players who were there the first time won't rejoin because they will be too wary of the server dissapearing after they've done lots of training/pvm again.

Yeah that's pretty much it. Not enough old OSI players stuck it out. In the final week(s) was just a few I-C/ELR/DiE players left with the freeshard nobs.

Thats the thing, I, most likely you aswell Calix, would be one of the many people to consider teaming up to purchase UO should EA sell it off at a resonable price.

I have two passions in my life, out with the obvious of drinking, socilizing, hockey, football and writting/films, these are the games industry, mainly MMORPG and a love of fashion (fu, i like to look hawt). Ive always said if i won the lottery i would create my own mmorpg, because I think i have the knowledge and ability to create a virtual world that would appeal to gamers like myself and you lot.

The problem we all face with MMORPG is the World of Warcraft phenomenon (sp?), lets face it, WoW did blow most of us away, we all tried it (ok you didnt Zim, but fu), its a game so large and diverse anyone can enjoy it. Any game coming out now has to deal with this, game play and community arent enough, subscritions and money in the bank of developers is.

Its a shame, i dont think small independant companys will start to churn out MMORPGs like we saw before with the likes of OSI and so on, Its a big cat world now.

I do have personal hope for the future, as stated, i would love to get into the gaming industry and I hope my degree does it, there is a number of games in production i can see me looking into, with my FANBOY GAME being the new Stargate Worlds.

We'll have to wait and see though, its strange though, because for me UO has a stronger community outwith the game (i.e. people like us who have a passion for the game, but no love for the new style of game play UO as to offer) than it does with the current twats who play it.

Still, er...rant/crap speech over :/

Less rambling Angus, stick to boring scotland conversations with nixon. :(
