I want to treat myself to something spiffy. I think i've decided on either a digital camera or a nice mp3 player.

Help me!

Don't really want to spend more than £200. I live in london, it will probably get stolen eventually!

Help me!

Ipod video's look quite nice. Thinking of the 30gig one. Anyone have one and can tell me what they're like? I understand i'm able to plug them into tv's and the like and play my video's through there? im thinking it will be quite nice for bringing round to friends houses and watching on their massive tv screens.

Anyway..input please!

Not an ipod you sheep. Not that i've got one but Creative's 'ipods' look much better value than Apple ones:/

Digital Camera is more useful, can get an elite one for 200

the reason i thought the ipod video was for as i said, i would be able to take it round friends houses and play movies on their tv.

digital camera is also well appealing for me, but i dont really know whats a good one.

Just speculating, so I could be wrong, but...
Wouldn't the dimensions/quality of the movies be reduced to fit onto an ipod, and when played on a large screen would look crap ?
Blurred Clart ?

i think so yes, but good for showing photos apparantly, i think zim got one so he can tell you

ipods win, although they are rl gay for batt life so looking at an alternative might be worth it (i dont mind charging mine every 5 hours so im gonna buy a video one when mine dies)

plz stfu with your funny "jokes".

digi cam, i have a rl so i have things to take pictures of. I'm also reasonbly interested in photopgraphy. also a pretty gf.

as for ipod, i wouldnt mind knowing about the quality of the video when it's put onto a screen (obviously it would be shit on the pod itself).

Ipod Video has the same screen as the Sony PSP so the quality of movies on it is excellent. Outputting to a TV Screen you obviously get a worse picture quality because you're blowing up something that's in a fairly low resolution, something like 300dpi. Even so it's still very very watchable and something I take advantage of when on holiday. I have the entire first season of Lost on my 60gig one along with many films.

i find my ipod more useful than my camera, but depends what you do more I guess. £200 will buy you an excellent digital camera, at that price you should be getting something that has at least a 5x optical zoom and 6 megapixels. My own opinion is that for normal postcard sized photos 3 or 4megapixels is all you'll ever need, but 6mega pixels is handy when you want to blow a photo up to A4 or A6. There's quite a cool new Nikon out that has WiFi so you can wirelessly upload photos to a PC or compatible printer anywhere you are without a lead, but think that costs more like £220.
