PvP Event

Ok, so I am planning on running a PvP event sometime in the near future and was wondering if there would be any interest in it. This event is based around the idea of factions, raiding a base for a goal. It will take place at my house in the Felucca facet and will be competed in by 2 teams. The way this will work is by guilding each participant to 1 of 2 guilds which shall be at war with each other, thus allowing access to the house even when you are the aggressor. There will be an item to reach at the top of the house, most likely a weighted box, which will have to be taken back to the raider’s base. So that both teams have a goal to aim for, there will be a time limit on the war meaning that the defenders will win if they hold the base for a long period of time.

This is the layout of the proposed event. The 2 bases are indicated by the red dots, the one in the mountains is the raider’s base, and the other, is obviously the house, and base of the defenders. The red lines indicate the boarders of the event and will be indicated in game by bagballs.

So far there are 3 rules, these being:

1. No mounts or pets of any sort, as it is a small area it means that there is no need for mounts and it will also allow for the battles to be made longer and hopefully more enjoyable. This also means there will be no ninja animal forms allowed either!

2. The second rule is that there is no hiding and or stealth allowed. This goes for all forms of hiding meaning that invisibility spells are not allowed (got to be fair…)

3. No heal wands. This event is meant to be about team work and thus you should not need them

Other than that all spells and skills are allowed (however I am willing to listen to other rule suggestions).

There will most likely be an entrance fee of 5-10k (not sure yet, and depends how many people turn up). This is to cover the costs of this event as I will be providing regs, pots, bandies and most likely bolts and arrows for each base so that people don’t have to be worried about restocking if they are looted/ don’t have to carry 100’s of regs about with them.

I’ve still got a fair bit of testing to perform upon the house, so once that is done I will be posting a date and time for the event. If it is a success I will be planning on making this a regular occurrence as it will provide a change from the normal PvP

Please leave suggestions as well as interest in this event here (and maybe days which you are more likely to be available)

dont see why it couldant work
but a few points:

dont expect people to stick to the rules so keep them to a minimum (people will use hide and stealth)

personally id scrap the entry fee and make the participents use their own gear/regs/pots

guilds could work, i would say just make it 2 teams and forget the guilds (epic battle style) but people cant be relied on not give counts

if guilds are used expect non guilded greifers

uo may of changed a bit since i last played, but im guessing its only got worseb

With the setup of the event, guilds is a must. It allows agressors to enter the house which is what is needed with this raid. There is no other way to do it, which is a shame as it will put of some people as they will have to either use an unguilded character or resign from their current guild for a brief time...

I think that I can't scrap the entry fee either as these battles will go on for a long time (think faction style fights) so if people had their own stuff it would mean a LOT of regs that they'd have to carry around and would open it up to further grief (looting and then they'd be stuffed for a while...). I got the idea of keeping stockpile of regs and other things from freeshards as they have restocking boxes, etc. After the first running of it, i'll soon be able to see how quickly it runs and if it is viable for people to not pay for admittion (in other words, if it is cheap for me, I wont charge)

To limit the stealth grief i'm going to be friending everyone to the house so that they can detect hidden (and in the ones I am not participating in, i'll just be sat in the house detecting :P)

You'll probably find this to be your main problem. Unguilded would be better.
You know I'm up for this anyway gimme a shout when you are doing it or if you need help organising.

Serious question:
Do enough people still play UO ?
It feels like a year since I last played.

Yes enough people play villa, they just aren't generally 'quality' players.
