All the big clubs have had great financial backing in recent history, the only difference between them and Chelski is that they had it over a 2 or 3 year period. Seriously, some clubs in the Prem still have record signings of around £5 mil - to think that they could play on a level playing ground with any of the top clubs is laughable. And yet they can still beat them - what a glorious game

Didn't Blackburn buy the premiership that one season back in the 90s ?
Jack Walker was doing a 'Roman' before Roman himself.

Arguably yes, I don't think it is on the same scale though.

You could say the same about the owner of wigan as well, but again not on the same scale.

To be honest it's more fun to talk about the clubs that
tried to compete financially with the big boys but never made it: Just how much money did Leeds and Newcastle spend to achieve nadda?

not really, most of wigans buys have been foreigners or lower divison players. No world class players at wigan.
I agree the principal is the same though.

The owner did offer Owen a storming deal to join them from Madrid though, just wasn`t taken up.
Wonder how many other deals he`s tried to make that haven`t come to the press`s attention.

@merc, those links only include Chelsea when you're in the top flight, and in ZERO was your ground filled consistently, just like now yeah?
Most clubs don't have a history to match Liverpool etc, that's again where you don't understand. My origional point was that Chelsea in 20 years, when they've dominated and won everything wont be considered CLOSE to Manchester United, Arsenal, Liverpool, becouse ALL of their achievements were after a billionaire bought them and bankrolled them to success.
Understand now? I have no idea wtf you think I mean. Your lack of reading comprehension is the only shameful thing around here.
Couldn't agree more with Pain i'm afraid. Always hated Chelsea above everyone but Leeds. Abramovich just gives me more reason.
