I'm with Orange at the moment, but they have capped my speed to 512k as i exceeded the fair use policy. The same fair use policy that has no writen rules and no way of tracking my usage. Plusnet used to have a page on the home page that showed you your peak and off-peak usage so it was easy to manage. All i get from Orange is a shitty letter telling me i've exceeded it, saying i'll be capped until my usage goes down. That was March. In may i got a letter saying the cap was being removed, but it's still ion place 2 months later. I've rung them every day to try and sort it out but thanks to bloody indian call centers and the language ( maybe accent is more accurate ) barrier, i'm left feeling like i'm talking to idiots. They keep telling me there is no cap, has never been a cap and will never be one. Even though the speed testing site they use shows there is and the engineers ( english ) i've spoken to agree there is!

Was thinking of trying these as well. Only reason i'm with Orange is my mobile is with them as well and the Livebox gives me free calls to Aus. O2 also have a similar system and thier ADSL package is currently without a usage limit.Lady Redname wrote:does anyone have experience with 02?

I'm moving to Finland to get a real ISP.
It seems quicker and easier than waiting for the UK to sort itself out.

BT, Virgin, Orange, Tiscali, BSkyB and Carphone Warehouse are all today sending out letters to users suspected of file sharing with threats to cut or limit service if they continue.
I think now is the time to cut this in the bud by voting with our wallets, anyone with these companies who wants to do any file downloading/sharing should move to another ISP before they get cut off. These companies will soon backtrack when they lose a large portion of their customers, I'm not sure they realise how prevalent file sharing is.

I see Sky are offering 16mbit for £8, pretty tempting. Downside is though, you'd need the sky deal + bt phoneline charges on top, it mounts up. I do almost no downloading these days anyway, so probably a bit wasted.
I think the ISPs will backtrack anyway, there will always be a way of getting round it. I see this as much a publicity stunt and scare tactic as much as anything else.
