For the current community, yeah, the changes are probably a good thing, but for us, I mean, do these changes even make you consider going back? Im just not interested, i see nothing there that makes me go "Yeah shit, thats good, that makes me wanna play"

:/

Not unless you make a previous designed house instead of trying to update new crap.

Or something, damn houses.

So as not to sound like a mysterious dick.

Basically this publish is designed to smooth out PvP, fix the major obvious faggotry that's going on right now, which really is severe, I'd go so far as to say even FC4 mages were easier to deal with.

But, I GET THE IMPRESSION this publish isn't the end of the road so far as PvP goes, it's just a quick fix for now, the real repair work, MAYBE THINGS such as developing a working factions system, evaluating the whys rather than the hows of PvP etc MIGHT POSSIBLY come later.
I really can't say a lot due to an NDA and the fact it will get read by nobs who'd run and tell teacher.

I think PvP is a main problem the Dev team have to address, but i mean, is there aim to attract old players back, or just get in a new player base? If its to attract new players, i think this is a good start, with Mythic working with UO now (Am i correct?) ive been expecting to see UO be tagged onto Warhammer Online, a sort of, "WAR & UO account £10 combined" or something, again, i could be way off.

My main problem with UO at the moment is NOT the game, i could keep playing, i would have to get my account back, but i would move to EU, or whatever, my problem is :-

1) The KR Client.

It just dosent work for me, its a clever way of re-marketing the game, dont get me wrong, but it just looks horrible, UO 2D was NOT amazing i agree, but it worked, it was smooth and had very few bugs, par a few tiles missing here and there now and again, personally I would rather the Dev team worked on PROPER expansions, events and most importantly addressing fixes and problems.

I dunno if you've read, but SWG has a lovely idea of player and Dev team interaction, they've just annonced "elections" for the Galactic Senate, once appointed, the players (im unsure the amount, but lets presume 20 per server?) can push throuh "legislation", no doubt rubbish like NPC pricing and such, but MORE IMPORTANTLY they can also delay and question dev team ideas. I think this is good, it depends who of course gets the positions, if in UO you got it, great, if say Villa got it, well, lol :/

My second problem with current UO is the community, apart from the Europa role players, we have no community on an EU shard, i remember (bear in mind im a DF player) events run by our ORC guild and Guards of Skara Brae, there seems to be no "community interaction", it was t he norm 3-4 years ago to run in the wild and run past a house finding people sparing or dueling, the game was fresh and it dragged you in, now you play for what, 5 days and your 6x120 and have at least 5mil, thats rubbish. There is so many pivitol figures missing from UO, i admit, when i played in my prime i was too young to understand this, i was all "ROFL I OWNED YOU NOOB ROFL", but if i could, i would change it.

Anyway, i do have more problems with UO, we all know PvP is bugged, the economy is fucking stupid, if you remember Gencore from DF, he's almost reached 1 BILLION gold in UO, and still owns EVERY ARTI, Server rare and most event rares, as well as having 2 chars with EVERY 120 scroll and soulstones too boot, its insane.

Anyway, bah, UO reminsing for the lose.

I don't intend any offense to anybody with this, but persisting in trying to get the dev team to fix uo seems like smashing your head against a brick wall. The fact that they are talking about 'fixing factions' now ("possibly", as we've heard so many times before) is a fucking insult. People were asking them to sort factions out four odd years ago, and they did bollocks all about it. People were asking them to sort out imba PvP following p16, and what did they do? They made it worse. With some of the clowns who work on this game, they seem to follow a simple formula of: 'If Mistake, goto Backpedal'; only they reel out errors at a rate that couldn't be compensated if you put Lance Armstrong and Oscar Pereiro on a quadricycle.

In my experience, it has been such a losing battle trying to get them to do anything to the pvp system. A majority of the devs seem completely confused by the game they've engineered to the point of complete blindness regarding what will make a system that the hardcore pvpers actually want (although, I will admit there have been a few noble exceptions to this, Hanse etc.).

It is commendable to try and get them to reconstruct PvP as something casually playable, if you do indeed have that level of passion about the game, but mark my words: they will be there to destroy all of your hard work with the next expansion. Many of the errors that have caused such a massive amount of people with an interest in PvP could have been prevented with a quiet word from the right places and some careful pretesting, but sadly that has never been their method of approach. Disappointing, really, because I still cite it, at it's peak, as the best game I've ever played.

iv'e not even read the list of pvp changes that have been posted

the only interest i have in the game now is on this forum.

i think they have left it to late and most people who would of jumped back have now moved on. im not even sure a 'classic shard' could keep me interested now, id probably subscribe, play a week or 2 and close my account

Nothing would get me back now sadfy, both times I've tried in the past year or so have made me log out in disgust after a few minutes.

Unfortunately these "proposed" changes (and don't forget nothing has changed yet) are about 3 years too late for most of us.

University education is finally paying off son.
I'm delighted by your clever usage of 'cite' and the way you slipped 'commendable' in there, not forgetting the anecdotal analogy involving cycling.
You are like the son I never had; I'm proud of you.

Villa, Sonez has always been the anti-Slamer:(

Also agreed @ Sonez and Zim, but a pvp fix can only do good, if the game is still shit afterwards, oh well. Not like there's any other good PvP games.
