6 megapixel cameras are pretty cheap now and provide sufficient detail to comfortably get A4 size photos or even A3 that look perfect. A3 you would have to get done at a Boots or something obviously.
The camera Buster linked to is certainly a good camera, but really for that price you should be getting 6megapixels and a 5 time optical zoom.
I dont follow the market very closely as im still using a 5 year old 3 megapixel camera, so cant come up with a list without doing some research (and thats your job so i cant be arsed), but I do know Nikon make very good value cameras. You can get something like an L1 I think it's called that has an excellent 5 X optical zoom, 2.5" LCD screen and 6.1 megapixels.
Nikon have been making cameras longer than anyone and recently stopped making conventional film cameras just to concentrate on the digital market so they know what they're doing. Also they're Japs and Japs = MANY PHOTO. Only criticisms of Nikon's range is they cane your batteries so you need to make sure you use high ampage batteries, stuff like the Duracell M3s or just buy yourself a charger set that comes with high power batteries.
