i dont defend just scottish ppl, some are homos, i.e angus =(
guys like rolend from omg are far worse than biff. rolend is just absolutely dire, i have no idea how that guy went red. he is quite possibly one of the worst df'ers who would class themselves as pvpers.

seth you are talking out of your arse man...i killed u solo other day and then survived a 2v1 gankfrom you and xzar....i would by no means say i am the best pvper cos i am far from it but i am by no means the worst.
i can survive most things without wands...through using pots (i ran outta refresh so was stuck at walking) i survived duri and his friends lp/explo FS gank in staroom yesteday which i was quite pleased with. but i can beat u 1v1 seth as i can beat most people...but i dont pretend to be something im not

Angus wrote:Anyway, I dont care. PvP isent skill, its me pressing button faster than you while I type and put you off.
skill
n 1: an ability that has been acquired by training [syn: accomplishment, acquirement, acquisition, attainment] 2: ability to produce solutions in some problem domain; "the skill of a well-trained boxer"; "the sweet science of pugilism" [syn: science]
and how did you learn to press those buttons quickly?
skill in anything is the abilaty to do something well, whether its playing football, typing or playing uo. knowing how to do it, what to press and when
which is why no one here can pvp

UO is not a skill in the sense its actually useful.
Being able to PvP i would say is an ability that can be learned through constant trying, aka "Die..rezz..try again..die.." and so on.
Still, I miss DF, and now I need a DF account..damn..you...all.

I don't think Biff is bad. But Seth is right about his mentality, always there to jump in when you're already fighting 1v5

I disagree. Being good at uo pvp you can compare to being good at anything else, like playing an instrument or sport etc. By practice you can improve a lot, but you will never be as good as someone with natural ability.
What natural ability is needed for pvp you might ask? Well the key ability is timing. Timing is useful in different ways, for duelling it can mostly be taught even if it doesnt come naturally, you practice and practice different duel scenarios against different templates, and come up with techniques and combos for dealing with them. This is not possible for field fighting, or not to any great extent anyway. Natural timing is more important in field fighting, which is why I've always said it's the most skilful form of pvp. In addition to timing you need the ability to think quickly, and extremely good awareness. You watch most people who you consider to be good 1on1 in a group field fight. Dont participate just watch. You will see that most of the time they pay absolutely no attention to the group situation, they will pick their target and go through their usual attack routine, paying no attention to what is going on around them.
Now again, skills such as hitting keys quickly and even observational awareness can be taught and trained, but you will NEVER be as good as someone to whom these abilities come naturally, never able to adapt to the unexpected quickly and effectively. It's natural selection, some people are better than others no matter what the discipline. Maybe that's a controversial thing to say to some people. But i dont care HAHA U DED.

i prefer to fight 1v1 actually say what you will but 1v1 is more of a buzz than 5v1

I totally agree, I help train some of the younger years at my high schools hockey team, and I see it all the time, you get the people who are always willing to work 100% at training, but somehow arent as good as that one person who just seems to understand the game more.
In many ways I guess it is the same as UO, when I say its not skilled, I dont mean as in "Anyone can do it", I know in many respects that is a lie, anyone can of course do it, but not everyone can do it well. I think some people do have "natural" talent at PvPing, but I see it in the same light as say WWE Wrestling (The Game). When you first play it you do the basic moves, but as you progress you learn to do the specials, etc etc. To me thats not so much "skill" as it is a sort of basic learning curve, trial and error.
But again, its things like this to me that make UO so much more interesting, some people are better, possibly due to skill, possibly due to being able to judge an oppenents next move or weakness.
Anyways, thats my opinion, it may be wrong, but im entitled to it.
P.S - FIND MEH AN ACCOUNT

@ Biff - No one stated you didnt "prefer" one vs one, they were meerly saying you are more than happy to gank someone than go for a solo.
Which you must admit is true....or you could lie

Yeah. I have similar amounts of pvp experience as Zim, we've both played Uo 7+ years, spent hundreds of hours PvPing, but he is just better than me.
I don't mean at mage 1v1, I could perhaps be as good at him at that if I practiced, but at general field awareness(key word) even though mine is good and definetely better than 99% of people we fight, Zim is simply far better, and no amount of 'practice' will make me as good, it's natural ability.

Yeah in many ways I agree.
I guess I just dont like to think of it that way, I dont know why.
I never did like the people who would walk around going "OMFG, I PWN ATYOU BECAUSEW I AM SKILL, THATS NOT SKIL LYOU USE, OMFG DUEL MY MAIN ON TEST YOU SEE REAL SKILL TRAMMIE"

Yeah, 'skill' in UO is pretty hard to define.
I've never equated it to 1v1 pvp personally. Certainly being a good dueler you're more likely to be a good alround pvper, but i've seen enough examples of good dueler but shit field pvper.
