I'm gonna try WOW. Not that fussed at what ppl say about pvp atm tho, because it's a different game I might not even want to pvp. I haven't read up on it or played betas so I'll start it open minded.

Ive been playing WoW since december. It was great fun the first few weeks and I had a blast PKing on my lame rogue. But it grows kind of tendious after a while. Questing and Exping has become so boring it's a real pain. At least in UO you can do it while afk (I have yet to find a good bot for macroing in WoW). An other thing which bothers me is the imaturity of the community, it's not so bad in US as most kids are a sleep while I play, but from what I've seen of the european one.. Well, it plainly sucks.

Gonna give EU Retail a chance with some of my best mates of rl. Maybe it'll last a bit longer when playing with them. Levling should also be moving in a decent pace since I've already done it once.

Hopefully the end-game and battlegrounds will be pwnage. I'd love to finally put UO on the shelf. :)

I'm hoping they allow character transfer after the EU version releases, as I decided I really can't be arsed tricking the system to play on US servers again.

Currently borrowing a guildies account on a PvP server (of course) and loving it. Still bugs and balance issues over there, but they are being resolved fast enough for me.

And Nix, you said they listen to the community which is right (and good), but they also don't get lead around by the balls by them. Should stop WOW turning into a U-Hall style neon pet trading game. Gotta catch em all!

Nah, I finally gave up for good (after a few long, long breaks) in the fall sometime.

The expansion was the death of it, no more rolling a character in a day AFK, but even that was nothing compared to Beta testing ToO (the next expansion). They actually made zerging the aim of the game.

Why is it game developers find a great combination, but instead of enhancing on it decide to recreate the F*cking game as something unrecognisable?

ANyways, I'm going well off topic :D

I got bored of it real quick :( Even though I could afk macro a char legally it still sucked, hehe

I guess it's like drugs or something - you just keep on looking for that 'high' that got you hooked in the first place, even though theres huge gaps between highs.

*stands up*

Oh well... like every online games that came after UO they will have the same fate...

For example all my guild moved to AO when it came out... they were WOW FUCKING ROX and after 2 months all came back to uo and sold there AO accounts...

Now AO is in the edge of shuting down... so they gave away 1 year free play... maybe it gives some life back to the game...

Shadowbane looked promising same as Daoc and lineage... all same shit...

Even tho LineageII looks fucking nice if u like GF and PvM

So i guess like everytime everyone will try new games and they will end up back to UO

It might has shit graphics but... the game itself owns all games...
It's only game u can solo pvp

In all other u need 2 warriors to take the hits , 1 clerik to heal, 1 fucking mage to cast, 1 sniper , 1 cook u need a fucking army to pvp...that a joke and UO is still the best in that part

Same fate? Live in denial more?

From being the number one MMO (when there was only two, such a achivment!! and other was not EQ) to 7 years later being 10th (if not lower) means that most other MMO's "fate" seems to be outstrip UO only then would you be right.

If you pay attention you can see easly within the first two months (or before if they have a very open beta) if a game is going to succeed

AO/SB anyone who looked at it logically could see would have problems (SB more than AO because aiming for a pvp crowd is never a good idea...far to many pvpers are little more than board pvpers)

Daoc? 4/5 years later and it's got higher subcription rate than UO

Lineage and LineageII ? Each indiviudally hold the 1st and 2nd place in subcription numbers for the market, even taking into account their weird ways of doing counts

And hell while you are right that many people return to UO from other games (but not as many who left in first place by a long shot) consider how they return? normally to be unhappy and bored while they wait for the next game or UO expansion.

In reality they are not returning because UO is better (if was so good would not have left in first place) all they are doing is returning "home"

WoW will succed, most likely be biggest game in the westen world before this year is out and unlike say SWG (NOT a level game) it is a LOT more compatible on every level to a UO'ers wants and needs from a game.

WoW while it will not kill UO is doing and will continue to do more damage to UO than anyother other game in last 7 years....ESPECIALLY if they get the end content right.

I agree there, I think WoW has the potential to lead and dominate the MMORPG Market for quite some time to come.

Personally I'm just uber glad that PvP is integral to the game design, even if it offers 'Trammel' Servers at the same time as Fel ones.

I could be wrong of course, but I haven't seen another game come close to getting each aspect of a good MMORPG right in the same package - there really isn't much missing at this point...

call it quests or whatver u like its still leveling and thats the one thing that is really putting me of the game.

leveling has never been fun but the quests do make it a little more interesting...

I hear ya, but there has to be some form of character progression - and with the exception of the 8x8 code I much prefer working a char in WOW to UO.

Although admittedly it was a while back that I did that - back then I could have ripped my eyeballs out training a melee skill ;)

Only reason UO skills are bearable is because they can be done afk.

i just want to know more about talents cant seem to find any info about them really.

I just hope it has long term appeal rather than log out cos of leveling boredom and not play again.
